It's dying because they don't think supporting ES Modules is a priority (years after they should have focused on it), right now they have it labelled as a "nice to have" and a priority level 4 🙄

But I agree in general tooling is going the way of Rust and Go. Right now the biggest blocker is that TS is a giant to port and you still need to use it if you want type checking. The author of SWC is trying to port it to Go now and if he does it we can finally say bye to JS tooling.
