Simple truth is that most people aren’t interested in VR beyond a novelty especially for normal uses. Maybe when games become amazing on them it would be worth it but those are basic for now too. Who needs or wants to browse emails or whatever on a VR headset? Gestures in the air look cool in sci-fi movies but are impractical and inferior compared to our current physical input devices too. Ain’t nobody need to talk to a virtual avatar of someone except maybe in Second Life either.
CEOs, like academics, are out of touch with reality. Only instead of the cloistered hallways of universities they observe life through power point presentations telling them that the latest venture capitalist dream is going to permeate every aspect of our lives and they need to embrace it today or be left behind.
